Jones discussed how A.I is currently being applied to generate filmed TV commercials such as the remake for Coca-Cola. So far, reviews are mixed. Some have enjoyed the new take, but others think the “magic” has been lost due to computer software being unable to really capture genuine emotion. Also Carl discussed the popular Christmas trend of ‘SADvertising’ and how the brand John Lewis creates successful commercials using this method. The Snr. Lecturer in Digital Media highlighted Australian TV advertising for companies: TK-Max, ALDI , and Myer, saying that the levels of production and ideas are assisting these brands in building emotional connections with consumers to generate sales. The future of Christmas advertising was also touched upon where Jones stated that with the increase of digital media platforms more rules will be proposed to govern advertisements such as the proposed ad ban from UK government on limiting TV junk food ads.
