Can Music Make you Sick?
From dubstep to orchestral players, stories of instances of psychological and emotional turmoil experienced by musicians as well as other members of the musical supply-chain are commonplace. The University of Westminster’s industry-wide study on the incidence of mental health and musicians by Sally-Anne Gross and Dr. George Musgrave has been reaching out to stakeholders across a broad age and genre range in pursuit of a more inclusive and holistic reflection of the state of musicians’ mental health and industry practice. This week has seen the release of the projects phase one report. Already showing fascinating findings, the report has been picked up by media across the country, including BBC Breakfast, MixMag, Vice, BBC3, The Line of Best Fit and PRS’s M Magazine.
