Xin Xin leads seminars on global infotainment at d the Southwest University of Political Science and Law

Dr. Xin Xin, a Reader in International Communications, recently visited the Southwest University of Political Science and Law(SWUPL) in Chongqing, one of China’s major municipalities in the southwest region. Invited by Professors Pei Li and Ren Li, Xin had the opportunity to engage with students and faculty members at the School of Journalism and Communication.

On December 26, 2024, she delivered two seminars. The first seminar focused on global infotainment, a topic she has extensively researched in relation to Xinhua News Agency. This subject continues to captivate her attention, especially as the trend becomes more pronounced and increasingly concerning in the digital age. The second seminar drew from her experiences as a teacher and a postgraduate student at the University of Westminster over the past twenty years.

Xin believes that sharing her insights can be helpful and inspiring to SWUPL’s students and young scholars, who have excellent English skills and possess a global perspective and various concerns about their futures as international students, academics, or journalism professionals. Both seminars included a Q&A session, providing an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn more about CAMRI and our School of Media and Communication, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first media degree launched in the UK this coming year.
