Miriyam Aouragh leads seminar on AI and occupation at University of Amsterdam

On 15 April, Prof. Miriyam Aouragh was an invited guest speaker at a departmental lecture at the University of Amsterdam entitled, AI Under Occupation.

The development of AI, and information technology more broadly, receives a lot of funding through diverse military initiatives. Most recently, Google and Amazon have been the topic of much public attention for their involvement in developing digital infrastructures supporting the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

In this seminar, Prof. Aouragh explored how AI development has become a pivotal site of the military-industrial complex and zoomed in on Israel as a major developer of AI technology in military contexts.
