Edson Fernando D’Almonte is a Brazilian professor at the Faculty of Communication and at the Postgraduate Programme in Communication and Contemporary Culture at the Federal University of Bahia (PÓSCOM-UFBA), where he works within the research line on Communication and Digital Culture. He supervises master’s and doctoral research addressing contemporary dynamics of digital culture, transformations in informational ecosystems, and the social and political impacts of communication technologies.
He is an associate researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology on Informational Disputes and Sovereignties (INCT-DSI), collaborating on interdisciplinary projects that analyse information flows, the governance of digital platforms, and the challenges of regulating communication technologies in democratic contexts.
His research focuses on informational consumption habits, regimes of visibility and content circulation in digital environments, as well as on the policies and disputes surrounding the regulation of platforms, devices, and communication infrastructures.
