Carl Jones presents research at the first UK and Mexico Interdisciplinary Academic Congress

On November 21st and 22nd over 34 UK and Mexican universities presented research at the First Mexico UK Interdisciplinary Congress: 200 Years of Academic Excellence held at the Embassy of Mexico in the UK in partnership with the British Embassy in Mexico, the British Council Mexico, and MexSoc—the Society of Mexican Students in the United Kingdom.

This unprecedented event celebrating two centuries of collaboration between Mexico and the UK, included Senior Lecturer Carl W. Jones’s 8-year research project titled “Innovative strategies for challenging colonial thinking and practices in the production of publicity campaigns within the Spectacle of Mexican Advertising.” Carl  spoke as part of a the panel focusing on Social Justice, Gender Equality, and Human Rights.

He focussed on  the results of his PhD project whose objective is creating more diversity in advertising both in front and behind the camera. As part of his strategy to create change he wants to expose his investigation to Mexican decision makers such as the Mexican Ambassador to United Kingdom.
