PhD researcher Helen Jay gives evidence at House of Commons

PhD researcher in CAMRI Helen Jay recently gave oral evidence to the House of Commons Culture Media and Sport Select Committee on the topic of BBC Charter Review.
Jay was invited as a researcher from University of Westminster based on papers she has written as part of her PhD, titled, “A ‘Public Service Internet’ – To What Extent is the ‘Public Service’ Intervention in UK Broadcasting Applicable to Contemporary Policy on Digital Platforms?”
Reflecting on the opportunity, Jay comments:
“It was a privilege to give evidence to Parliament on the future of public service media and technology, as part of the DCMS Select Committee’s inquiry into BBC Charter Review. The session highlighted the importance of ensuring that technological change serves the public interest, and of thinking ambitiously about the information environments we want to create for the future. This is a critical moment for public service media in the UK and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to share my research and perspectives with the Committee.”
