Wolfgang Mühl-Benninghaus: The Changing German Media Landscape under the Influence of Web 2.0 and Mobile Devices @ University of Westminster | England | United Kingdom

Date: 19 November 2015
Time: 5:00pm to 7:00pm

With my lecture I would like to work out that the German media landscape has significantly changed under the influence of Web 2.0 and the plentiful dissemination of smart phones and tablet PCs. These changes refer to both the use of media and their dissemination via various networks. The lecture’s results are to reveal significant changes within the German media landscape on the level of production and reception without already existing appropriate economic models.

Wolfgang Mühl-Benninghaus is professor of film theory and history at Humboldt University of Berlin’s Department of Media Studies. He studied Economics, Business Administration and History in Berlin. His main research interests are History of Media and Media Economics. He is author and editor of several books that focus on social media management, television entertainment in Germany, the economics of audio-visual media, the history of the media economy in the years 1750-2000, the history of the media in Eastern Germany, German film during the First World War, or the film industry in the 1920s and 1930s.
