Prof Steven Barnett appointed as specialist adviser to the House of Lords Communications Committee

Prof Steven Barnett has been appointed as specialist adviser to the House of Lords Communications Committee for its new inquiry into video on demand services and public service broadcasting. His role will include advising the committee on selection of witnesses and appropriate questions, assessing evidence and providing background knowledge and expertise in briefings to the committee. He has advised the Lords committee on previous inquiries, including those on media ownership and investigative journalism, where his own research has informed the committee’s approach. The committee will be taking evidence until the summer, and are due to report with policy recommendations to government in the autumn.
