Anastasia Kavada speaks on public opinion, digital freedom & suppression at #Studio202X
With the globally increasing use of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Weibo, the public sphere has expanded into the digital space. In the context of the corona-crisis and the according limitations of public space, social media gain new meaning as catalysts for social debate and protest culture. What kind of chances and risks does the shift of social discourse into the digital space involve for democratic culture? To attempt to answer this question, Anastasia Kavada, joined Moderator Daisuke Tsuda, Yoshitaka Mouri (Sociologist and Professor, Tokyo University of the Arts), and Yik Mo Wong (Activist, Demosisto, Hong Kong).
The event was broadcast as part of the #Studio202X Season 2 Part 3 in cooperation with Goethe-Institut Tokyo and Goethe-Institut Hongkong.
