Andrea Medrado to speak at Latinx Digital Media Virtual Seminar Series
Andrea Medrado will speak at the Latinx Digital Media Virtual Seminar Series on 28th April. In her talk on ‘South-to-South Media Activism and Artivism to fight marginalisation in the Global South’, she will discuss how colonialism and coloniality have left fragmented relationships between Global South peoples. Her presentation will focus on how communication scholars and practitioners, media activists, “artivists,” and members of civil society can work on restoring South-to-South relations. Medrado will argue that media activism and artivism can fight marginalisation in different Global South contexts. By sharing experiences in Latin America (Brazil) and Africa (Kenya), the presentation demonstrates how stories from plural Souths intertwine, featuring as tools for movement building.
