CFP: Tarik Sabry co-edits special issue on the “Plural Digital Maghreb”

Prof. Tarik Sabry is co-editing a special issue of the Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication (MEJCC) entitled “Fatema Mernissi, Abdelkebir Khatibi and the Plural Digital Maghreb.”

Co-edited with Driss Ksikes (HEM, Rabat), this issue brings together scholars exploring how the influential work of Moroccan sociologists Fatema Mernissi and Abdelkebir Khatibi can help us rethink culture, identity, and society in a rapidly evolving digital Maghreb. The editors invite contributions that engage with themes such as digitality, decoloniality, love and sexuality, activism, and what it means to be human in the 21st century.

This special issue reflects CAMRI’s intellectual commitment to decolonising media and cultural studies, offering a critical platform for reimagining knowledge production and cultural analysis beyond Eurocentric frameworks.

Abstract deadline: 20 December 2025
Article deadline: 29 June 2026
