CAMRI Doctoral Researcher, Manisha Ganguly, has been shortlisted for the 2022 One Young World Journalist of the Year award. One Young World is a global forum for young leaders that identifies, promotes and connects the world’s most impactful activists to create a better world with more responsible and effective leadership.

Established to recognise the increasingly important role of journalists in an age of mass information and misinformation, the Journalist of the Year Award was created to recognise five of the most promising young journalists between the ages of 18 to 35 from around the world. Fearlessly bold, these young leaders have shown considerable commitment to inspiring and empowering others through their work and changing the way stories are reported in a turbulent journalistic landscape.

The annual prize is presented at the One Young World Summit in front of 1,800 young leaders from more than 190 countries. At the Summit, delegates gather to discuss global challenges alongside world-leaders and generate innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.

Manisha is a multi-award-winning investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker, specialising in combining open-source intelligence techniques with fieldwork to expose human rights abuses in conflict and war. She is a Forbes Under 30 media honouree and has been nominated for/won 17 international awards, including an Amnesty Award, with her investigations broadcast to over 300 million worldwide.
