Sally Anne Gross speaks at Head First conference in Sydney
On Wednesday 25 May, Australia’s music industry gathered for the first ever Head First conference discussing mental health and wellbeing. Presented by Support Act and held at the Factory Theatre in Sydney, the full-day event welcomed current and future leaders of the music community to face the challenges of the past, while looking to a future where psychological safety, mental health and wellbeing are at the core of everything we do.
During the event Sally Anne Gross was invited to be ‘in conversation’ with Ash King, Support Act’s psychologists, about her and George Musgrave‘s research and their book Can Music Make You Sick. Musgrave also made an appearance via a pre-recorded video.
Support Act is the Australian music industry’s charity, providing mental health and crisis financial relief services to those who make a career from music. Head First 2022 was the first ever conference of its kind in the region. With this conference Support Act as an organisation aimed to improve the working conditions for those who work in music and make them psychologically safer places to be.
