Maria Michalis, European policy adviser for the European Alliance of Listeners’ and Viewers’ Associations, participated last week in the conference ‘Key Trends on the Audiovisual Markers and Regulation’ organised by the European Audovisual Observatory, Council of Europe. She spoke about the provisions concerning advertising in the draft proposal revising the EU’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive. She stressed the need to consider extending controls of advertising to the online environment, an issue which has not attracted the necessary attention in the current draft of the Directive. ‘
