Three months ago, ‘Downing Street sources’ were briefing that the BBC was to be broken up  and non-payment of the licence fee  decriminalised, subject to the consultation, which has now closed.’ Meanwhile, the current Director General, Lord Tony Hall,  leaves office ‘in the ‘early summer’ Interviews for the new DG are taking place; What will be in his/her in tray?
