I joined CAMRI in 2007 and I am currently a Reader. Before moving into academia, I worked as a media industry analyst for media consultancy firms. I have a PhD in communications policy.

My research interests revolve around media policy and regulation and the political economy of media industries. I have written about the political economy of Italian media and about children’s television industry and policy (with Prof. Jeanette Steemers). My work has appeared in several books and academic journals, including: Media Culture & Society, International Communications Gazette, Journal of Children and Media, and Convergence: Convergence: International Journal for Research into New Media.

My current research considers the implications of technological change for media regulation, especially issues around the funding of audio-visual content in the Internet age and public service media. I am also working on a book project on contemporary Italian media to be published by Lexington Books.

I lead modules on cultural industries and media markets at both undergraduate and postgraduate level (MA Media Management and MA International Media Business). I also act as coordinator of the media theory programme for the BA Radio, BA TV Production, BA Journalism and BA Public Relations degrees.

I am in the supervisory team of several PhD students, and I welcome inquiries from prospective PhD students in my fields of research and any related field.

Main areas of research expertise: media policy and regulation, especially European broadcasting and audiovisual policy; analysis of media, cultural and digital industries; Italian media and politics; political economy of children’s media. I am on the editorial board of the journal ‘Interactions: Studies in Communication and Culture’.
