Carl W. Jones Snr Lecturer of PR & Advertising Ba Hons course talked earlier this week via the software Microsoft teams to nearly 1,400 students across the UK about ‘Fake News & how to Spot it’.

The event was co-ordinated by the charity Speakers for Schools that was established to open up access to societal leaders and their organisations. Since 2010, almost one million young people have been supported and inspired by these talks.

Carl introduced the theme of Fake News and then explored its manifestations in social media, advertising, and journalism. Ending the talk by demonstrating a tool kit that young students can apply to find out if a piece of communication is misinformation or not.
