Tarik Sabry awarded research residency at the Moroccan Institute of Advanced Studies
Tarik Sabry, Reader at the Communication and Media Research Institute has been awarded a research residency at the Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco, within the newly formed Moroccan Institute of Advanced Studies (IMEA). The Institute has been established to promote high-level research in the humanities and social sciences and to promote dialogue and interactions with other scientific fields (life science, data science, environmental science).
The IMEA offers a wide range of thematic axes for all disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences, promoting the dissemination of ideas by encouraging new research and by hosting academics and eminent professionals from outside the academic world, including artists and intellectuals, who can contribute to research and stimulate public debate on contemporary issues.
The IMEA offers research residencies in partnership with Mohammed V University and its partners and in Morocco in general, collaborating with key institutional partners (Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, National Center for Scientific and Technical Research, University Ibn Tofail of Kenitra, International University of Rabat) and benefits from the support of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) as weil as the French and European networks of Institutes of Advanced Studies (RFIEAand NetIAS).
During his residency Tarik Sabry will be working with Moroccan artists, cultural activists, sociologists and philosophers on the theme of ‘othering’ and ‘cultural difference’ in the Arab region.
