Musab Iqbal was recently invited on to the popular BBC Urdu programme Sairbeen to discuss the violence in Delhi and the future of protest against the discriminatory citizenship bill (CAA). In the interview Iqbal argued that the government used the framing of ‘riots’ to target protestors in an attempt to delegitimize their struggle. This, he suggested, might be used as a trick or model to remove protestors with force and not to engage with them democratically. Iqbal also speculated on the the future of the protest and how people on the ground will fight it.
