Prof. Jean Seaton spoke at the Westminster Media Forum policy conference on 6th July 2022. The event focused on the future for media policy in the UK, with Seaton discussing heritage, competition, relevance and sustainability of UK media.
Delegates discussed key issues for the future of broadcasting policy in the UK in the context of the Broadcasting White Paper: Up next – the Government’s vision for the broadcasting sector. The event focused on a number of key areas related to UK media policy. These included, the way forward for policy – the future for UK regulation and its scope; the developing media landscape; public service broadcasting – including the future for Channel 4, and the television licence fee; on-demand services – key issues – value exchange – market development – options for policy and regulatory frameworks
The event also included keynote sessions with Clare Sumner, Director, Policy, BBC; Emily Davidson, Head of Policy and Public Affairs, Channel 4; and Patrick Holland, CEO, Banijay UK.
